honey, miss shanice was the truth during the early 90s. signed to motown in 1991 after her stint at a&m records resulted only in minor hits, it wasn't until her breakthrough single i love your smile that the world took notice. in 1993 she contributed to the motion picture soundtrack of the underwhelming meteor man. i had the cassette single and i ran it until it literally popped. and don't get me started about her hair in the accompanying video. :-)

this was the second single from their 1985 primitive love album. i remember my aunt janet playing this tune on our record player. i'd imagine myself dancing around with human sized cats as she did in the music video. only in the 80's could an artist get away with such a thing. gosh, i miss the 80s!

i thought i was well versed on jan's catalogue especially as i was a huge fan growing up. turns out that i must have missed a class because did not even know that there was a track entitled work floating around. apparently, it is a leftover track from her now classic rhythm nation 1814 album. it's a treat and it is now added to my rhythm nation remixed playlist. thanks boogz! you are too good to me!

most of you know that i am a die hard 80s music fan. so much so that i tend to hate when artist cover tunes from that era - however this one works. sampling r&b group starpoint's object of my desire, this song may have a chance at radio as it appeals to those who love or may not be so fond of freestyle music. unfortunately, that may never happen as it is on a very independent jersey label. it's worth the listen, so check it out and let me know what you think. shout to wendy - "hey girl, i am diggin' this song so much, i may come out of retirement (again) and dance for you!" :-)

this song was released about two months ago, so i waited a while before posting it. this song is a tad bit different from her usual sound but it works. check it out. oh yeah, i edited the beginning. i took a piece from the break and made it the intro.
